The Galactic Butterfly

 

The Toltec weavers use this symbol as a pattern for their blankets. This symbol, according to indigenous peoples, is called the Galactic Butterfly. It represents all of the consciousness that has ever existed in this galaxy. This includes all of Earth's physical ancestors in the human, animal, plant and mineral realms. Also included are those life forms, past and present, of all the stars and planets within this galaxy. The non-physical consciousness, whether it be singular or plural, that originated these diverse creations are also embraced. The original Maya had no symbol for this concept, although they were aware of it. In their tradition, it was like having no name for God.
